We invented and created the Douglas Shaving Mill 1040. The first shaving
mill was built in 1976, before we were even a full-time business. Our
shaving mill was designed by our owner and president, Kenny Douglas, and
fabricated in our shop from ground up, including the cutter-heads.
In Business Since 1978
We are a family owned and operated. Kenny Douglas, owner and
president, earned a Bachelors Degree in Machine Technology and an
Associates Degree in Tool and Die Technology from Florence-Darlington
NC, became a Certified Journeyman Toolmaker. He began DMS as a part
time business in 1976, and later in 1978 with $800 and a prayer, DMS
became an established corporation. Along side Kenny in this successful
business is his wife of 38 years and Vice President, Wanda Douglas and
their children, Paula and Kevin. Paula earned an Associates Degree in
General Business from Northeastern Technical College in Cheraw, SC. She
is the Office Manager. She handles the office including the bookkeeping.
Kevin began following in his father's footsteps working and learning the
family business. He earned an Associates Degree in Mechanical
Engineering from York Technical College in Rock Hill, SC. Currently, Kevin
is Shop Foreman and Mechanical Engineer. He supervises employees and
job orders as well as programs and operates our CNC machinery and Auto
CAD.
